Easy Homemade Yogurt

How do you like your yogurt?

For years I have been making yogurt in my little Yogourmet maker. Usually I would buy these little packets of dried starter to make my yogurt. But a few years ago I started using my left over yogurt. It’s actually really easy and super gratifying.

This wide mouth funnel is one of my most used kitchen tools.

You will never need to buy yogurt in plastic ever again. Those plastic container s are constantly breaking down into micro plastics anyway so getting away from them is always a good idea.

Any cow milk will work for this but I prefer raw with cream on top. You can strain the finished through cheese cloth for a thicker Greek style yogurt or just use it like it is. I love using mine in my daily smoothies. (I have lots of recipes on here just search smoothie for more ideas.)

•Add your favorite preserves for stir in fruit yogurt.

•Add homemade or store bought granola to prove you are an OG Hippy.

•Add honey and vanilla for an easy sweet smoothie add in.

•Add a drop of Lemon or Citrus Fresh and maple syrup for a bright morning detox and wake up.

Recipe:
1 gallon milk from a cow (you can obviously make less or more if you want )
2-3 T organic yogurt

Warm to just above body temp… about 110°
Remove from heat and whisk in yogurt. Put lid on and sit in your not warmed oven or on top of fridge overnight or about 12 hours. Check for consistency change and then place in glass and refrigerate.

One thing I like to do is add different organic yogurts to my original occasionally to diversify the probiotic profile.

This will change your life in the best of ways. When you realize how easy it is to create your own probiotic magic in your own kitchen.

Tell me how you do.
